Spooky Halloween Snacks & Treats

Can’t think of devilishly delicious Halloween snacks or treats because a zombie has eaten your brain?

Fear not – we’ve concocted some scary-simple Halloween treat recipes incorporating a variety of fun foods you’ll drool over. Because that’s what zombies do, they drool.

Creepy Caramel Apple S’mores

Yes, even fruit can play a role in your spooky Halloween treats menu.

…that is, fruit that’s drowning in caramel and crushed by the weight of milk chocolate, of course.

Ingredients

  • Marshmallows
  • Thinly sliced apples (we recommend Granny Smith, but use your favourite)
  • Milk chocolate squares
  • Warm caramel apple dip

The meal prep is simple, taking no more than 15 minutes out of your day. Start by toasting a tray of marshmallows in the oven until golden brown. Meanwhile, slice up your apples of choice; top a slice with a chocolate square and a couple of toasty marshmallows. Drizzle with caramel to your heart’s content, and top with a second apple slice. Repeat until there’s enough to feed the legions of trick or treaters!

The Monster Mash

This is a graveyard smash for a reason – it’s scary good.

Ingredients

  • Kettle corn
  • Cotton candy
  • Pretzels
  • Melted white chocolate chips
  • Melted semisweet chocolate chips
  • Candy corn
  • M&M’s (add to the festivities by using yellow, orange, and brown only!)
  • Halloween-coloured sprinkles

To create this Halloween hodge-podge of sweet & salty, start by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper, and covering it with a layer of kettle corn. Add the pretzels, but be mindful of keeping everything to one layer.

Now, put the melted semisweet chocolate chips into a piping or Ziploc bag with a corner cut out. Coat the kettle corn and pretzels with the melted semisweet chocolate chips; try to keep the drizzle lines tight and close together. After all, we want this Mash to be smothered in chocolate.

Finally, top the tray with candy corn, M&M’s, and the melted white chocolate chips. Finish with sprinkles and cotton candy for a creepy-crawly edible webbing, then freeze or refrigerate until the chocolate solidifies, or about 20 minutes. Smash the Mash into pieces, and serve!

Sweet n’ Salty Halloween Mix

This crunchy snack mix is to die for, combining classic Halloween flavours, colours, and textures. We’re sure this Halloween treat will curb the sweet tooth of you ghouls and gals:

Ingredients

  • Chex cereal
  • Halloween M&M’s
  • Popped gourmet popcorn
  • Chocolate-covered raisins
  • ½ cup of peanut butter
  • Semisweet chocolate chips
  • Powdered sugar
  • A package of almond bark

Using a large saucepan over low heat, melt your chocolate chips and mix in the peanut butter. Once smooth, remove from heat, and add cereal until the mixture is coated. Take your powdered sugar and add it to a large plastic bag, and then pour the coated cereal mixture into it and shake until covered in sugar.

Now, melt the almond bark and pour that over the gourmet popcorn. Mix the popcorn until it’s well coated; throw in the M&M’s and the pretzels, and shake. Gently mix the chocolate-covered raisins next, and then pour everything onto a large wax paper sheet to dry. Once it’s dry, break into pieces and start mixing the bites into the chocolate and peanut butter mix. You’re ready to eat now, or store for later in an airtight container.
